Brake forming
Also called press braking, box and pan bending, air bending, bending
Bending sheet metal along a straight line between a punch and a die. The inside radius, not the crease, sets the geometry: material stretches outside the neutral axis and compresses inside it, so a flat pattern must carry a bend allowance or the finished part comes out short by millimetres on every fold.
